Tired of talking about the weather? So are we! Join us this week for a great lineup of Events that will make your water-cooler talk the stuff of legends, starting with:

Special Musical Guest Brett Newski (Thursday 4-18)

Brett Newski will be playing in our Lounge tomorrow—yes, music on a Thursday! Newski’s music has been likened to Weezer and REM, and he’s played shows for Marcy Playground and Third Eye Blind. posterHis newest album, “In Between Exits,” was written and recorded “in budget hostels and apartments across Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Korea, and the Philippines.” He’ll play at Söntés from 7-9 p.m. tomorrow. After that, his schedule is jam-packed with gigs across the nation, so come see him with us first, then travel far and wide to see him again.

“April in Paris” Wine Class (Thursday 4-18)

Outside the doorway where Brett Newski will be playing, our Sommelier Barbara Pitcher will be hosting her “April in Paris” Wine Class in our Gallery tomorrow, winesstarting at 6:30 p.m. Barbara will be pouring Domaine Michel Thomas Sancerre, Francis Blanchet Pouilly Fume, Rhone by Sabon, Chateau Puech-Haut, and others, and sharing information about the regions, grapes, food pairings, etc. The wine class is $35 and includes the tasting, Barbara’s wealth of knowledge for the asking, and her wine terminology booklet. Come to refine your palate, or to begin your wine vocabulary. Studying should always be this fun! Call 952-358-1285 or email Barbara to reserve your place at her wine table, or visit her P2P Facebook page.

Chef’s Tasting Menu (Thursday 4-18)

Not only has our Sommelier Barbara Pitcher hand-selected the wines for the “April in Paris” class, but she has paired them with Chef’s Tasting Menu. This optional menu is offered only once a week, and includes five fun courses of food (Chef’s chance to play around) and a chance for you to vote on the dishes for our summer menu. In addition, take 25% off any bottle of wine with the purchase of the Tasting Menu. Tomorrow’s Tasting Menu costs $40 and includes:

Coddled Duck Egg with parsley and herbs
Brussels Sprouts
Chicken Liver Pate with grilled bread and shaved radish
Risotto with local vegetables, sun dried tomatoes and parmesan
Tres Leches Cake with cactus sorbet, ancho chile brittle and strawberries

Cadence & Israel (Saturday 4-20)

On Saturday, we are pleased to present musical guests Cadence and Israel, who will be singing and playing guitar (Jarana and Requinto guitars, each carved from a single piece of wood) in our Lounge starting at 7:30 p.m. Cadence is our own Söntés pastry chef, and if you thought her made-from-scratch cupcakes cupcakeswere good, wait ‘til you hear her sing! She and her husband Israel will play Son Jarocho music, a style which comes from Veracruz, Mexico, and is meant for dancing (think: La Bamba). Its roots are Spanish, African, Arabic, and indigenous. Israel has been playing this style of music for over a decade, and his voice will stop you in your tracks. Together, the talented duo have played at the Crossings at Carnegie, C4 events, the North Star Bar, and private parties here in Rochester, and before that, they played at venues around Mexico and Europe. Join us Saturday and see for yourself why the Söntés staff believes, “Everything Cadence touches turns to gold.”

Dinner & a Movie (Saturday 4-20)

Saturday is Söntés Dinner & a Movie night with the 2012 Director’s Cut of Heaven’s Gate. This Director’s Cut is being heralded as a “modern masterpiece,” the likes of which caused Chef to add a fourth course to his movie dinner. That’s right, the movie and four courses for $35! The movie starts at 6 p.m. in our Gallery. Call us to reserve your ticket and your four-course dinner at (phone) 507-289-1628.

Spend the rest of your week with us and you’ll always have something fun to talk about. It’s never dull around here!
