Photographer Paula Hardin was chosen for her capture of brilliant color combinations in her long exposure night photography.
“Night photography and long exposures have completely captivated me since I began pursuing photography as my primary creative expression,” Paula says. “The beauty of the colors of light, the unexpected and unpredictable results, and the interplay of shadows and light…combine in exciting variations.”
Paula is a recipient of the E.E. Hemstreet Book Award, awarded by the University of Puget Sound Art Department for contributions to the visual arts. She graduated cum laude with a degree in painting and printmaking.
Paula painted for many years before turning to before turning to photography. She has exhibited her paintings at galleries in New York, Montana, Washington state, and Louisiana, and has exhibited her photography in California and Ohio, and now, Minnesota. Some of her works combine her talents of photography with painting.
“Painting with light techniques allows me to bring my original painterly touch to my photography and I combine this with long exposures and movement.”
She currently lives and works in Rochester.
