FWGE BrochureEver since we opened the doors in 2006, Söntés has been a proud supporter of the arts. For your viewing pleasure, the Söntés Fall/Winter Gallery Exhibition (F/WGE) has transformed our walls into an art gallery, and all of the pieces are for sale. As always, when dining with us or simply enjoying a cocktail, feel free to move about the restaurant and enjoy the artwork.

Among the twelve regional artists chosen to showcase their work at Söntés this season, three are photographers: Glenda Mueller, William Schmidt, and Loretta Verbout. Let’s take a moment to get to know these photographers through their art, their awards, and their own words:

Glenda Mueller

Oil and water Many Moons IMG_2379_r small“When I was ten, I asked my parents for a camera.  I received an inexpensive Kodak (with the blue flash cubes!) and photographed everything!  I eventually progressed to a more expensive camera but it wasn’t until I took the black and white photography class at Rochester Community and Technical College that my interest in photography got serious.”

Of her numerous awards and accolades:

Mueller had a photograph published in the 2013 book, Capture Minnesota II. This photo contest was sponsored by Twin Cities Public Television. Mueller’s photo was also awarded one of ten grand prize runners-up out of over 220,000 photos submitted.  In addition, one of Mueller’s photographs was chosen for the cover of the Mayo Clinic 2013 Fall Quarterly.

William Schmidt

Schmidt Landscape Oxbow 3“[My] visual dimensions are an attempt to deconstruct images into their most basic of elements, then reconstruct the image using these basic elements.”

Of his numerous awards and accolades:

Schmidt has had several architectural photographs published in Reflections Magazine. His work has also been included in the Chicago Tribune Magazine, and he won Best of Photography Annual in 2004.

Loretta Verbout

Verbout Image #1“[My] focus tends to be in capturing everyday sites that we all may normally pass by, or not give a second thought to, along with trying to look at things from a bit of a different angle.”

Of her numerous awards and accolades:

Verbout took Third in Show at the 2012 Beaux Arts Fair in Davenport, Iowa, and Best in Show for Traditional Photography at the 2010 Venus Envy, also in Davenport.

The Söntés Fall/Winter Gallery Exhibition runs from September 2013 to mid-March 2014. Our house is your house, so please feel free to explore the different artwork from room to room.

From our walls to yours, you may just find the perfect gift!
